Weekly Meal Prep for Busy Women

When you're super busy during the week, working from nine till wine, you have to be really organized if you want to maintain healthy and balanced lifestyle. That's why my Sundays are dedicated to do some meal planning (and prepping if I have time) and to lay down my weekly goals. So for this week I already assembled some of my go-to meals for busy days, which will guide me in choosing the right foods during the week. The guidance for the meals is "lean and green": plant based dishes with the addition of some healthy fats and/or proteins. However, when I don't have much time for websurfing to find the recipes, I like to hold on Tone It Up nutrition plan, since I really love Karena and Katrina's diverse and delicious meals.

Monday 


Breakfast: vegetable scramble with corn cakes or Glowing Green Smoothie.

Lunch: Green salad with cucumber, green pepper, chickpeas, nuts and seeds. A piece of a 80 % chocolate.



Tuesday


Breakfast: Chia pudding (3 tbsp chia seeds, 1 cup of almond milk, dash of cinamon, maple syrup, berries and nuts).

Wednesday


Breakfast: Perfect Fit Pancakes (1 scoop vegan chocolate or vanilla protein powder, 1 egg, 1/2 banana, 1 tbsp almond milk).


Dinner: Thai Stir Fry

Thursday


Breakfast: TIU overnight oats ( 1/2 cup oats, almond milk, 1 scoop of chocolate protein, 3 tsp chia seeds, cocoa nibs, 1/2 tbsp peanut butter, blueberries).

Lunch: Power bowl

Dinner: Exotic bowl ( kale, strawberries, 1/4 avocado, 1 cup quinoa, 1/4 onion, cranberries, almonds).

Friday


Breakfast: yoghurt with berries, coconut shreds, cocoa nibs and nuts.


Dinner: veggie burger with a steamed portobello cap bun and roasted zucchini.

Favourite things for Spring ... in Pink!

I'm not really a pink- wearing person, but since it's spring, it seems like everything is blooming in some sort of a pink - from flowers, pink smoothies, home decor, fashion and beauty/makeup products. 

Last year I created a spring inspired makeup look, which inclues all the shades of pink. Since I (re)discovered that photo in this year, I became excited about pink themed products, starting with pink/rose-gold adidas sneakers I bought the other day. Because I'm really a visual person, I decided to do a pink inspired wishlist and a moodboard ... which will also be suitable for rainy days. :)

Pink represents compassion, nurturing and love. It is the passion and power of red softened with the purity, openness and completeness of white. The deeper the pink, the more passion and energy it exhibits. Pink is also feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring. In color psychology, pink is a sign of hope - a positive color inspiring a sense that everything will be okay.

Colour pink can be observed on catwalks, celebrities, as well as in the stores, which have already introduced spring wardrobe. Pink is the colour of romance, love and girliness. It is also the statement colour for bold women who dress in pink from head to toe. It is perfect for awakening the nature and many of us gladly put it on for the evening. Reflecting the grace and elegance of a ballerina, it is excellent as a one colour outfit  and in combination with other colors, especially dark gray, white or black. It works on almost all pieces: sweater, dress, skirt, pants, shirt, jacket or coat, fashion accessories or shoes.

16 amazing things that happened to me in 2016


2017 is already in it's third month, but is never to late to do some reflection of yourself and your previous year. The list of 2016 (amazing) things that happened to me in 2016 will serve as a gratitude journal and also as a motivation (and a mental note!) to do more and even better in 2017. 

"A little progress each day adds up to big results." 


So back to 2016 and it's most memorable things: 


1. I gained Master's degree in Journalism Studies. Actually, I had my master's thesis defence on in December 2015, however the formal ceremony was held in June 2016. I was really happy to finish this chapter of my life, as it was very time consuming ... though, I loved the topic about the position of Slovenian women journalists through history. 

2. I became an entrepreneur - started my own company - to work in journalism and as a makeup  artist. However, I finally landed in ...

3. ... public relations. In 2016 I worked for two public relations agencies - the first was smaller with only three of us and the director didn't pay me well (hardly anything to be honest). So after three months of work (that I truly loved) I left the company and decided to take some time for myself. However, I was actively looking for a job in the meantime, which brings me to another PR agency, where I am currently working.

4. I discovered that I truly love public relations, but I also love working as a makeup artist and journalist. So the biggest issue in the end of the 2016 (which is still ongoing) was to balance these three fields. Public relations are my main occupation and the most time consuming, so the other two fields come in handy when I want to release stress and earn some extra money.

5. I was a makeup artist at the Arab wedding held in Bled (Slovenia) with 200 women guests. Almost all off them came to do hair and makeup in our "Hair and makeup factory" which consisted from 25 makeup artists and 25 hairdressers from all over Slovenia. Some of them also came from Croatia, Italy and from London. I think that this was the largest event of its kind in Slovenia and it was truly amazing to be part of the makeup team. It was stressful, but really worth it.  

6. I enrolled in a programming course. I thought that it will be informative and fun, but I really hated it. One experience more, I guess ...

7. I travelled to Kashmir and Ladakh. I really love travelling and I love India (was there twice already), so this was an amazing 17-days journey.


8. I had a photo shooting with an amazing Slovenian photographer Tania Mendillo. I met her since she was also a makeup artist on Arab wedding, and she asked me if I would be prepared to take part in a photo shoot for the exhibition that she is preparing. Of course I said yes and is was an amazing experience. Her photos are truly inspiring.




9. My cousin and one of my best friends gave birth to a beautiful baby girls. :) I don't like kids that much, but they are both really adorable. One of my friends got married, and the other got engaged ... 2017 will be even more interesting in this field. ;)

10. I worked in marketing and customers support for a company that holds an astrological portal. It was interesting, fun and I really learnt a lot about the fields that helped me to get the jobs that followed. 

11. I also worked as a copywriter for a TV show that deals with a health topics and as a journalist for another medicinal magazine. 

12. I gained 13 pounds (about 6 kg) in 3 months. Don't even know when did that happen, but it didn't bother me much, since I was a bit to skinny (not on purpose!). The only thing was, that I had to change a lot of my clothes, haha. 

13. I started to work on my health and well being. I still have some ups and downs, but I learnt that I feel my best when I eat healthy (unprocessed, low-sugar) and when I exercise regularly. I ditched sugar free drinks (diet Cola, anyone?) and food, which was my obsession for many years. I still have occasional cheat days with protein bars, but I try to make them myself whenever it is possible.




14. I was trying to make a habit of embracing life and living in gratitude every day from the very moment I open my eyes. I'm still working on this, but I think I made a progress in the field of spontaneity and really enjoying the life. 

15. My grandmother survived a serious surgery. I am extremely grateful for that and since then I am trying to take more time for my family, especially my grandparents. They are really precious, but sometimes you're to late to realize it. 

16. I met many interesting people and gained new friends. Some people retained, the others are already gone, however, I am grateful for all of them, because each of them learnt me something new.

 
I hope 2017 will be even more exciting, joyful and that it will help me to become even better. <3
